Mitau is the German name for Jelgava, a small city in Latvia, the country from which Audrey Fall hail. Audrey Fall are four guys who play post-rock. Wikipedia defines post-rock as “a subgenre of rock music characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock, but using rhythms and ‘guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures’ not traditionally found in rock. Post-rock bands are often without vocals.” Post-rock has for me always been blast-off music. I listen and it drowns out the world I live in and lets my imagination create another. I conjecture: In Jelgava there lives a mad scientist who has created a spaceship of pine, reverb and fog that has the capability to travel to alien worlds and beyond time and he is drinking tea and holding open the spaceship door. For who? For you. Enter, and be taken away…
